Our federal and state prisons desperately need more oversight and accountability. We have been promoting independent oversight as a way to make sure people in prison are kept safe and treated with dignity.

Over the next week and a half, we will be hosting two public events to bring attention to this issue, and we hope you will join us.

On Wednesday, April 6, I will be moderating a panel, "The Need for Independent Oversight of Federal Prisons: 4 Women Speak." We will hear unforgettable stories from four women who've experienced the abuse and cruelty of the federal prison system firsthand.

The following Wednesday, April 13, FAMM Vice President of Policy Molly Gill will moderate a panel of state advocates, "The Challenges to Passing Independent Oversight in the States."
