Representative Andy Biggs, Heritage Foundation to Host Press Briefing on Title 42, Biden Border Crisis <[link removed]> - We are experiencing the worst border crisis in American history—and it’s one being driven by the Biden administration’s open-borders policies. Under President Biden’s leadership, more than 757,000 illegal aliens have been released into this country, coupled with more than 600,000 got-aways who have evaded law enforcement altogether and reside in the interior. Now, the Biden administration is moving to end Title 42, a vital public health authority that has helped prevent the spread of COVID-19 in our communities. What has been the worst border crisis in our history is about to become orders of magnitude worse. Representative Biggs, co-chairman of the Congressional Border
Security Caucus, along with Heritage’s homeland security team, led by Lora Ries, Mark Morgan, and Tom Homan, will lay out the consequences of Biden’s foolish decision to end Title 42 on the border, what Congress and the states can do to hold the administration accountable, and how private groups like Heritage are going to respond. Heritage Experts: Lora Ries <[link removed]>, Mark Morgan <[link removed]> (limited availability), and Tom Homan <[link removed]> (limited availability)
What’s the Long-Term Strategy Against Putin, Russia After Ukraine? <[link removed]> - As long as Vladimir Putin is Russian president, there will never be peace between Russia and the West. Putin’s war against Ukraine raises two major questions. The most obvious is: What happens to Ukraine after the fighting stops? The answer, of course, depends on how the war ends—win, lose or draw. Crucial times such as these require bold, rational leadership. But there is little reason to believe we will get anything approaching that from our current president. Where Is Judge Jackson’s ‘Demonstrated Commitment’? <[link removed]> - Axioms such as “actions speak louder than words” or “talk is cheap” counsel that, even under oath, a judicial nominee’s carefully scripted statements may not be what they seem. The test is whether a nominee has a “demonstrated commitment” to the judicial philosophy they describe. After all, who in their right (or left) mind believes that Biden would nominate, and liberals would support, a Supreme Court nominee they thought would actually use what Jackson described last week as her judicial philosophy? Iran Deal: US Must Never Allow Evil Regime to Obtain Nuclear Weapons <[link removed]> - The original Iran deal was seriously flawed, and returning to it will not stop Tehran from acquiring nuclear weapons to threaten the U.S. and its allies. Unfortunately, the Biden administration is doing the exact opposite by attempting to recommit the U.S. to this deeply flawed, entirely unworkable deal from which President Trump wisely withdrew the U.S. in 2018. Biden’s push to restore this horrific deal is all the more baffling in the wake of Saturday’s Iranian missile attacks on U.S. personnel in Iraq. The U.S. should punish this evil regime for its attacks on American citizens and continued threat to our interests. We must never allow Iran to obtain nuclear weapons. Heritage

Here’s What We Know about Judge Jackson’s Record on Child-Pornography Sentences <[link removed]> - As
America’s founders designed <[link removed]> it, the Senate’s role in the judicial-appointment
process is to prevent the appointment of “unfit characters” by identifying “special and strong reasons” why a nominee should not be appointed. Every Senator must determine whether, based on this and other issues, those reasons apply regarding Jackson’s nomination to replace Justice Stephen Breyer. Doing so requires accurate and complete information rather than spin and distraction. When it comes to child-pornography crimes, Jackson’s record includes downplaying their seriousness followed by a consistent pattern of lenient sentences. Obama to return to White House to celebrate health care reform <[link removed]> - As the Obamacare exchange market has stabilized over the past four years, more insurers have resumed, or expanded, their offering of exchange coverage, albeit still far below pre-Obamacare levels. At both the state and county levels, insurer choice and competition in the Obamacare exchanges for 2022 is roughly back to where it stood in 2015—before large and escalating losses prompted numerous insurers to exit the exchanges. The Biden Administration’s proposed rule now threatens to reverse much of that progress. If finalized in its current form, the proposed changes could significantly reduce insurer choice and competition in the exchanges and increase premiums for individuals and taxpayers who subsidize these costs. Biden faces rising pressure on student loans with deadline looming <[link removed]> - The Biden administration is doing everything it can to make the process of meeting this deadline look impossible – both for students and the Department of Education. But who would really benefit the most if there was student loan forgiveness? According to research <[link removed]>, graduate students are borrowing, on average, $24,000 per year, while undergraduates are
borrowing approximately $7,000. The wealthiest <[link removed]> 40 percent of borrowers hold 60 percent of all loan debt. As a result, student loan forgiveness would result in borrowers at the bottom of the income scale receiving the least amount of the benefits. Researchers <[link removed]> at the University of Pennsylvania and the University of Chicago find that full student loan cancellation would
“accentuate inequality,” <[link removed]> because the average individual in the highest income brackets would receive nearly five times more
forgiveness in present value terms than the average individual in the lowest bracket. Again, student loan forgiveness would divide Americans by income. Heritage Expert: Jonathan Butcher <[link removed]>
