Brexit isn’t abstract.

It isn’t something to get done and forget about.

Brexit is permanent.

A cross-party Government. That’s temporary. A referendum campaign. That could be done in a couple of months.

Now is the time to see the bigger picture. Now is the time for tactical voting.

Some people are saying that this election shouldn’t be about Brexit. That it should be about the NHS, about the climate emergency, or about worker’s rights.

But Brexit is about all these things.

After Brexit, our NHS risks being sold off in Johnson’s USA trade deal.

After Brexit, tackling the climate crisis becomes so much harder without EU environmental regulation and co-ordinated international action.

After Brexit, hard-won labour rights and recourse to fair employment could easily be stripped away by a Johnson Government.

There are differences between Remainers, between Labour, Lib Dems and Greens. But I like to think we are united in our priorities.

I like to think that the cliff-edge we are hurtling towards might call for a different kind of politics. One that can move past tribalism, short-sightedness and petty point-scoring.

We face the hardest Brexit yet, delivered by a callous, deceitful Government.

But this is an opportunity to re-write the political rule book, and achieve something incredible. We just need 30% of us to work together and stop Johnson’s majority.

This December, vote for what you believe in, vote for what counts. Vote tactically.
