I wanted to share my story with you, and tell you how it shaped me into the person I am today.

I was raised on a dairy farm right here in rural Wisconsin. I met my wife here, and we raised our family here, just as my family has done since they came to our country in the 1800s.

That’s how I know that rural America is just as important as anywhere else.

I had my dream job as Secretary of the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection. I understood the help and protections that our farmers were looking for.

But after I sparred with Republican legislators over funding for a farmer suicide prevention program, they unanimously voted to fire me from the job.

Even though it cost me my job, I don’t regret speaking out. I saw a need, and I will always fight for what’s right.

Because that’s what rural Americans do. We don’t just go away. We’re resilient. So, I ran for State Senate. And I won. Instead of going away, I’m with them every day, holding Madison accountable to the people of Wisconsin.

But my opponent, Derrick Van Orden? Well, he was a part of the Capitol Riots on January 6th and then tried to lie to Wisconsinites about it.

We can’t let a person like that represent us in Congress. So I’m going to win this race the only way I know how: by going everywhere and talking with everyone. But I won’t kid myself. I know it’s going to be a tough race, so I need your help to build this campaign strong.
