SIGN: Stand with the Democratic candidates against voter suppression →

For the first time in debate history, last night’s Democratic debate covered the state of voting rights in America.

Cory Booker tackled voter suppression in Georgia:

This is a voting issue. This is a voter suppression issue... the heartbeat bill here opposed by over 70 percent of Georgians is the result from voter suppression.

Pete Buttigieg pointed out how it affects our democracy:

We have politicians picking out their voters rather than the other way around. That compounding with what is being done to restrict the right to vote means that our democracy is not worthy of the name.

Amy Klobuchar discussed the impact of voter suppression tactics:

If we did something about gerrymandering, and we stopped the voting purges, and did something significant about making sure we don't have money in politics from the outside, Stacey Abrams would be governor of this state right now.

And Bernie Sanders said it plain and clear, voting is a right:

What we need to do, simple and straightforward, in every state in this country through the federal government, if you are 18, you have a right to vote, end of discussion.

We’re so grateful to see so many Democratic candidates making the right to vote a priority.

So we want to show them that they have thousands of grassroots supporters fighting with them across the country.

Let America Vote is committed to creating political consequences for politicians who make it harder to vote. Our boots-on-the-ground teams in Nevada, Tennessee, Iowa, Georgia and New Hampshire knock doors and talk to voters every day to help elect voting-rights champions. This year we've already knocked on 200,000 doors -- and we're nowhere close to slowing down.

This message was sent to [email protected] because you are a vital part of our team. We're able to protect access to the ballot box because of grassroots supporters like yourself. Since we started knocking doors last year in Virginia, we've received more than 90,000 online contributions -- and our average donation is $24.

We can't win the argument over voting rights alone, that's where you come in. If you'd like to join our fight to protect voting rights with a grassroots donation, please click here. Together we can create political consequences for vote suppressors.
