Recapping the last 3 months →

The past few months have been busy, John. It feels like just yesterday I was writing to you about what we were hoping to accomplish this year.

In these past three months, our team has delivered on our promise to advocate for the Iranian-American community. Here are just a few of the things we did this past quarter:

First-Ever Report on the Rights of Iranian Americans

On January 18th, NIAC's Research Director, Dr. Assal Rad, unveiled the first-ever report on the discrimination Iranian Americans experience in the United States. In addition to the release of the report, we hosted a panel on the rights of Iranian Americans at home with many special guests.

1-Year Anniversary of the Repeal of the Muslim Ban

January 20th marked the anniversary of President Joe Biden repealing the Muslim Ban after its enactment four years prior. We rejoiced when it was appealed, but Iranian Americans and their families still feel the impacts of the ban today. We, along with 20 of our partner organizations, released a letter calling on Joe Biden and members of his administration to address the impacts of the ban.

Celebrating the Diversity of our Community with Black History Month and Women's History Month

During the month of February, NIAC celebrated Black History Month by elevating the voices of Black Iranian Americans. We also highlighted the Collective for Black Iranians, an organization creating visibility for Black Iranians around the world.

In March, we honored Iranian-American women as a part of our Women's History Month series to highlight the work they have done for our community. To read about some of these incredible women, click here.

Our Week of Action and Lobbying in Support of the Iran nuclear deal

With your help, we've called on Members of Congress to support reinstating the Iran nuclear deal. This past month alone, we met with nearly 70 number of Members of Congress, received 1,474 signatures on our petition, and more. Thank you for your support, John. Without you, we could not have gotten all this traction.

Norooz

Last but not least, March 20th marked the start of the Persian New Year. We're excited about the possibilities in store for this upcoming year.

Our team did this and so much more in just the first three months of the year. In order to fund exciting and essential programming for the rest of the year, we need your help. Can you chip in $22 or more to fund our initiatives for the rest of the year?
