ISRA Thursday Bulletin - November 21, 2019

Executive Directors Message

The gun sanctuary movement keeps chugging along despite the wailing and gnashing of teeth by the anti-gun fanatics. In Lake County, Florida, the Commission passed a resolution declaring Lake County a Second Amendment Sanctuary County. This is the first county in Florida to become a Gun Sanctuary County. This resolution was a response to gun buy-back proposals from various democrat presidential
candidates.

I have often wondered how you can buy back a gun or anything else, for that matter, you never owned. Many of these organizations that sponsor buy-back programs have convicted felons or other prohibited persons working for them, and yet we never hear about the police, BATFE or other police agencies investigating them. Waiting periods that plague law-abiding gun owners do seem to matter during buy-back
programs. If a Federal Firearms Licensed Dealer or individual gun owner forgets to dot an I or cross a T, there is hell to pay. I guess if the government didn’t have double standards, they wouldn’t have any standards at all.

In New Mexico, the sheriffs are heading up a gun sanctuary movement along with some persecutors. In Arizona, Mohave County has just passed a Sanctuary County Resolution. More and more counties throughout the United States are considering such resolutions. In Illinois, we are going to see Gun Sanctuary County Resolutions on the ballot in 2020. If your county has not passed a gun sanctuary
resolution, keep pressing forward.

The 2020 Legislative Calendar is out. The Spring 2020 Session officially starts on January 8th, 2020. The first actual day the General Assembly is in session is Tuesday, January 28th, 2020. Usually, the first six weeks of session is spent introducing bills. Last year, there were over 200 gun bills introduced and I expect that number, or more, to be introduced in the Spring
Session. The ISRA lobbying team will be there and we will be introducing bills of our own.

Michael Bloomberg is undoubtedly positioning himself to either run for President of the United States or to be a big player in the 2020 General Election. Why else would he voluntarily apologize for his ludicrous Stop and Frisk polices he implemented In New York City when he was Mayor. Bloomberg is one of the holier than thou politicians who weaponizes his wealth against people like you and me.
Bloomberg and his creepy fellow billionaires have raised havoc with the Second Amendment Rights of law-abiding gun owners. Sorry pal, but we aren’t buying any of your baloney.

The Spring 2020 Session will be interrupted by the Primary Elections. The Primary will be held on Tuesday, March 17th. The week before the Primary, the General Assembly will not be in session. Primary Elections have a strange effect on the legislative process. Sometimes it is relatively quiet before the Primary while politicians are working on their campaigns. Some in contested
districts may be quiet while some in safe districts will be noisy. We will have to play it by ear.

IGOLD will be held on April 1st, 2020, at the usual time and place. We will be working on details in January. Last year, many gun clubs and gun shops arranged for their own buses. That is really helpful. If all of you could do that again next year it would be great. It is more effective if buses, caravans and car pools are organized locally.

We will need more people at IGOLD next year. Let us know if you are planning to organize some form of group transportation. It is helpful if we know how many are coming from different areas. The easiest way to let us know is to email

[email protected]
.

The ISRA has five court cases at the moment and we are working on them all. The ISRA Legal Assistance Committee (ISRA-LAC) helps fund these cases. Please make your tax-deductible contribution before the end of the year. Send your donation to ISRA-LAC, P.O. Box 494, Chatsworth IL, 60921.
