Dear OCCRP Reader,
No other organization works quite like OCCRP. From our headquarters in Sarajevo, we work with more than 50 member centers — independent media outlets supported by OCCRP — based in the countries we investigate.
By partnering locally, we can follow the money and patterns of criminal behavior across borders.
For example, after the devastating explosion at a port in Beirut, Lebanon, I knew our network of journalists had the skills, experience, and reach to uncover what was behind this preventable tragedy. In just two weeks, we got results.
In case you missed it, we revealed critical details about the shipment of ammonium nitrate that eventually exploded ([link removed]) , as well as the true owner of the vessel that brought it to Beirut ([link removed]) . The investigation was only possible because we had colleagues and member centers in every place touched by this complex story: IStories (Russia), RISE Moldova (Moldova), RISE Romania (Romania), Bivol (Bulgaria), and ifact.ge (Georgia).
We also worked alongside media outlets that aren’t official member centers but are frequent partners of ours, including Arab Reporter for Investigative Journalism (MENA), Daraj.com (Lebanon), Meduza (Russia), Der Spiegel (Germany), and aVerdade (Mozambique). They helped us extend our reach and deepen our understanding of what happened and why.
You can support investigations like this one by becoming an OCCRP Accomplice ([link removed]) . Donations go toward directly helping us support and expand our global network of journalists.
If you are in a position to donate, we would be grateful for your support at whatever level you can.
Donate now ([link removed])
Sincerely,
Julia Wallace
Deputy Editor in Chief
