I hope you were able to catch one of our Empathy Network leaders’ events during the Week of Impact. It’s so invigorating to witness power building in the reform movement from coast to coast. Now, some of those very organizers are headed to D.C. to help us close out Day of Empathy with a bang.

Here’s what you can expect from tomorrow’s National Day of Empathy, why you should care, and how you can plug in! 

Kicking off the day’s events at 9:00 am ET, Empathy Network leaders will meet with their senators virtually and on Capitol Hill to urge the passage of the EQUAL Act. The EQUAL Act would eliminate the racist sentencing disparity between crack and powdered cocaine — two versions of the same substance.

At 5:30pm PT/8:30pm ET, our evening program will stream at dayofempathy.org from the National Building Museum in Washington, D.C. The event will feature Dream Corps JUSTICE co-founder Van Jones, performances from hip hop artist Reuben Vincent and MacArthur Genius grant recipient Reginald Dwayne Betts, and bipartisan elected officials like Congresswoman Ayanna Pressley (MA-07) committed to reform.
