Hot Air (7/1/19) column: "Of course, it’s a summer holiday week. So, this good news somehow slipped by most media critics of this president. But the latest government figures just showed that in April the United States produced a new record amount of oil per day — a stunning 12.16 million barrels of oil every 24 hours... The oil production jump makes the United States the world’s largest producer of oil, ahead of the usual slippery suspects like Saudi Arabia and Russia. How’s that for energy independence?"

But there are still battles to be fought...


Town Hall (7/3/19) column: "As we celebrate the Declaration of Independence, let us view it from a 21st century perspective.  Many of the colonists’ grievances against King George III resonate today, as tyrannical environmentalists continue to block domestic development of minerals that are critical for our businesses, security and living standards.... Our businesses and citizens must have full power to explore, develop and mine on federally managed lands, under responsible modern environmental, health and safety standards; establish secure commercial supply chains; and function as independent businesses and individuals under the laws of these United States of America." 

Grill with Gusto this Independence Day. You deserve it, regardless of what the New York Times might say.

Maybe an Independence Day meal of pan-fried potatoes and grilled peaches seems un-American. But the tradition of backyard grilling isn’t exactly Jeffersonian in pedigree.' In a free society, personal choices are made for reasons of health, safety, convenience, quality, and affordability. Time is as important as dollars. Quality is valued over lesser substitutes. Self-sacrifice for some other person’s notion of good is not very motivating. When grilling this special week, go for the gusto. Charcoal is fine, and don’t forget the taste from smoke using wood chips such as oak, hickory, maple, pecan, and mesquite. There is plenty of energy; and the climate will not notice and is otherwise not in peril."
