Friend: We're witnessing history unfold as the Senate considers confirming Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson to the Supreme Court – the first Black woman to be nominated to this position.
I couldn't be more proud of Judge Jackson's nomination. Just like me, she was raised in Florida and worked incredibly hard to get where she is today. She excelled at Harvard University, spent years as a public defender and has more trial court experience than any other Supreme Court justice on the bench. She's one of the most qualified Supreme Court nominees ever.
It's time we have a Supreme Court that truly represents the diversity of our country – and Judge Jackson's nomination is one step in the right direction.
