We wanted to make sure you saw this news from Arizona, John:
Last week, Governor Doug Ducey signed an extreme, restrictive abortion ban into law.
This law follows similar efforts from Republican legislatures across the country. It bans nearly all abortions in Arizona after 15 weeks, and physicians who perform the procedure after this timeframe could be charged with a felony. These are some of the toughest restrictions anywhere in the country.
At the same time, the Supreme Court is considering a similar law in Mississippi, and could very well overturn Roe v. Wade altogether.
This is a powerful reminder of the stakes in November. While Senate Democrats are working to protect and expand access to healthcare, Republicans are doing everything they can to insert themselves into the conversation between a woman and her doctor. With the right to choose on the line, we must defend our Democratic Senate majority with the power to confirm or reject Supreme Court justices.
