CCUSA video featuring Khaibar Shafaq, Afghan refugee who helped Catholic Charities of Owensboro with disaster response
Enjoy the following video produced by CCUSA in collaboration with CC Owensboro. We plan to introduce more video storytelling across our service areas in collaboration with member agencies in coming months. As a disaster response field officer in Afghanistan and Africa, Khaibar Shafaq never imagined he would one day trade places with those he was assisting — or that his journey would lead him from his home in Kabul to a small, tornado-ravaged town in Kentucky. Today, he is the newest staff member of Catholic Charities of Owensboro, working to rebuild a place he never knew existed, repaying the generosity of those who helped him resettle here by helping his new neighbors start over again.
