Attorney General Moody and joining states argue that the Center for Disease Control’s (CDC) mandate exceeds the agency’s authority and interferes with state laws banning forced masking. “Florida has led the nation in standing up to misguided federal government policies and fighting back against heavy-handed mandates that have no scientific backing,” said Governor Ron DeSantis. “If politicians and celebrities can attend the Super Bowl unmasked, every U.S. citizen should have the right to fly unmasked. It is well past time to get rid of this unnecessary mandate and get back to normal life.” “President Biden’s shortsighted, heavy-handed and unlawful travel policies are frustrating travelers and causing chaos on public transportation,” said Attorney General Ashley Moody. “It’s long past time to alleviate some of the pressure on travelers and those working in the travel industry by immediately ending Biden’s unlawful public transportation mandates. I’m proud to stand with Governor DeSantis and to lead my fellow Attorneys General in this multistate action to end the forced masking of travelers in the U.S.” The current CDC order, which has been in place for over a year, was set to expire on March 18. The Biden Administration chose to extend the order until April 18, despite the lack of high-quality data to support the efficacy of mask mandates, case numbers and hospitalizations experiencing a large downward trend, and 81.7% of the population having received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine. The complaint seeks to end the unlawful mask mandate on public transportation and establish a permanent injunction against enforcement of the mandate. The following states have joined Florida in the complaint: Alabama, Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, Georgia, Idaho, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, Ohio, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Utah, Virginia, and West Virginia. Ron DeSantis will call lawmakers back to Tallahassee to settle the ongoing redistricting spat, the governor made it official on Tuesday morning, announcing that a special legislative session will be held April 19-22 in order to pass the required redistricting maps the state has not yet agreed on. DeSantis also announced that he formally vetoed the maps previously approved by the legislature. DeSantis argued the maps approved by the state’s legislature complied with Florida’s constitution but were in violation 14th Amendment of the U.S. Constitution. “We have a responsibility to produce maps for our citizens that do not contain unconstitutional racial gerrymanders,” said DeSantis. “Today, I vetoed a map that violates the U.S. Constitution, but that does not absolve the Legislature from doing its job. I appreciate the Legislature’s willingness to work with me to pass a legally compliant map this Special Session.” Senate President, Wilton Simpson and House Speaker, Chris Sprowls, issued a joint statement saying they would work to craft a congressional map that can be supported by lawmakers and DeSantis. When asked if other pressing issues facing the state like property insurance and data privacy could be dealt with during the special session, DeSantis reaffirmed that the primary concern is redistricting, and all energy will be devoted to tackling map drawing. “You know, there are a few things we still need to deal with like property insurance, data privacy, and constitutional carry, but we need to get this [redistricting] done,” said DeSantis. “If the opportunity presents itself, we’ll cross that bridge.” It's All About Woke By: Bill O'Reilly March 31, 2022 It will be interesting to see if the Disney Company suffers economically by alienating tens of millions of parents who believe their 5 to 8-year-olds should not be discussing "gender fluidity" at school. I am simply amazed that Disney executives are using the enormous corporation to advance a far-left vision of education. The business risk is substantial. Ever since television was invented, Disney has set programs for children and gained the trust of Americans by doing so. The fairy tales were brilliantly animated and wholesome entertainment brought in billions every year. But now it's all about woke, a trend that is on the skids as folks see how narrow-minded and callous woke-ism really is. The embarrassment of ordering employees not to say the words "boys and girls" is apparently lost on Disney executives. Really, what the L.A.-based company is doing is insane, self-destructive, and bad for all kids, not just traditional children. My prediction is the marketplace will punish Disney, but I could be wrong. Maybe, the public is numb to assaults on the culture - there are so many of them. But I've had enough, I can tell you that. Investigations Opened into Florida Allegedly Allowing Ineligible Convicted Felons to Vote in 2020 Investigations have been opened into whether the state of Florida allowed convicted felons, ineligible to vote, cast votes in the 2020 presidential election. Breitbart News reported that the investigation started in a number of counties in a movement that is spreading across the nation from Wisconsin to Georgia and even down to Florida. According to Politico, the investigation began after researcher Mark Glaeser began crossing-checking Florida’s voter lists against the states convicted sex offenders and felons still in the Alachua County, Florida, jail. One of the investigations focuses on an election official in Alachua County who is accused of registering felons to vote at the county jail despite their being ineligible. Politico reports the probes or investigations are in varying stages, with some county supervisors forwarding information to local prosecutors and the Florida Department of Law Enforcement or handing it off to the Department of State. But it appears dozens of potentially illegal voters have been flagged in counties such as Alachua, Duval, Gadsden, Leon, and Lake. “As such, it is quite possible that some individuals who voted in the 2020 General Election had not satisfied all legal financial obligations or were otherwise ineligible under the parameters of the restoration of voting rights framework,” said Mallory Morgan, a spokesperson for Secretary of State Laurel Lee. “Eligibility screening continues without ceasing and the Department is hopeful that new FTE positions sought in this year’s budget will assist with this work, which expanded significantly in terms of time and complexity following the passage of Amendment 4 in 2018.” According to Morgan the Department was aware that several of the counties received information and noted that they had the power to forward the complaints to the local prosecutors. Equally as appalling is that the demand for border security has fallen on deaf ears as the “open borders” liberal/progressive leadership in Congress has blocked every attempt we have made to bring a commonsense border security bill to the House floor for a vote. The border crisis is about to get much worse as it has been widely reported that President Biden is likely to end Title 42 deportations, which have been used to expeditiously deport a significant number of those illegally entering the United States. U.S. Customs and Border Protections (CBP) estimates that there are as many as 170,000 people currently across the border in Mexico waiting for President Biden to end Title 42 deportations. CBP is currently preparing for as many as 18,000 illegal immigrants to illegally enter the U.S. each day if Title 42 deportations are ended. This will overwhelm an already overwhelmed CBP. I have little doubt that border security legislation would pass the House - and the Senate - if we were only allowed a vote. In my view, Speaker Pelosi has abused her authority by preventing the House from working its will and passing legislation like H.R. 471, requiring the expeditious expulsion of those illegally crossing our southern border. As a cosponsor of H.R. 471, I have joined with 205 other Members of Congress in signing a discharge petition which would immediately force the bill to the House floor. We are pleading for at least one member from the majority party to join us in asking for an up or down vote on H.R. 471. The House Freedom Caucus sent an appeal asking for bipartisan support for keeping in place the expedited deportation of illegal immigrants. You can read the letter here. We are doing all we can to block this effort by President Biden to end one of the remaining tools put in place by the previous Administration to combat illegal immigration. Sandra Rivera, President of HRIR opened the well-attended meeting. The main theme of the night was that Hispanic values are Republican values. The speaker line-up included Laura Roscoe, St. Lucie County President of the Republican National Hispanic Assembly of Florida, Susan Aguirre, HRIR Treasurer, Michael Sabaga, Florida Field Coordinator, the John Birch Society and Alvaro Callejas, HRIR Vice President.
