Hi there John,
Tomorrow, the Senate Judiciary Committee will vote on Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson's nomination to the Supreme Court. Today, I'm thinking about this message (below) from Abby, and why we cannot let Grassley ever take control of this incredibly important committee again.
During his time as chair, Grassley has used his leadership role to advance his far-right agenda and delay crucial hearings for months. He weaponized one of the most influential committees in the Senate as part of a hyperpartisan scheme between him, Mitch McConnell and their extremist allies. He even had the gall to claim that so few women have served on the committee because they don't want to deal with the heavy workload.
It's time to kick Grassley off this critical committee – and out of Washington altogether. It's time to elect a new leader who will cut through the noise of political partisanship and do her job in the Senate. There's no one who can do that better than Abby.
That's why the GOP is so afraid of her – and why they're doing everything they can to stop her campaign. We cannot let them win. So please, before the Judiciary Committee takes this historic vote, will you rush $5 to elect Abby and defeat Grassley?

Subject: Sen. Grassley says women are afraid of hard work
John,
With hearings taking place for President Biden's Supreme Court nominee, Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson, I wanted to take a moment to talk about Sen. Grassley (R-IA) and his role on the Senate Judiciary Committee.
This committee, which has existed for more than 200 years and is incredibly influential, was composed entirely of men until the 1990s.
If you ask just about anyone why so few women have served, they'll point to the historical barriers that women face and the out-of-touch elites who run far too much of Washington – but when reporters asked Sen. Grassley, he told them it's because women just don't want to do the work.
When I tell you his comments fire me up, I mean it. John: I promise you no one is going to work harder than I will to defeat Sen. Grassley and fight for working families in Washington. Please, will you stand with me and chip in $5 right now?

Beliefs like these have no place anywhere in our society, but especially not in the U.S. Senate. Trust me, women do not fear hard work – growing up, I watched as my mom and my grandma worked hard to care for our family and give back to their communities. I took their work ethic to heart because I know that it takes many hard days’ work to win real victories for the people you serve.
First in the Iowa State House and then in the U.S. House, it was my priority to deliver for the folks who elected me. Chuck Grassley, on the other hand, has made it his mission to politicize our courts: blocking President Obama's nominee for 293 days, ramming through Kavanaugh's controversial appointment and refusing to properly listen to Dr. Blasey Ford's testimony.
It's time for change. With your help, this November, I'll become the youngest woman ever elected to the U.S. Senate – and I'll keep working every day to defeat the right's out-of-touch radical agenda.
So please, with all eyes on the Supreme Court nomination process this week, will you stand with me by making a $5 donation right now to defeat Sen. Grassley, flip this seat blue and move our country forward?

Thank you for your support. Together, I know we can win.
