Check out the latest from NYGOP Volume 56 | April 3rd, 2022 This Week at the NYGOP Follow Us On Social Media! Dear Friend, This was a great week for New York Republicans. The Supreme Court of New York State issued a landmark ruling emphatically in our favor against Democrats' illegal gerrymander. The judge confirmed what we have been saying all along, which is that Democrats’ maps were a brazen illegal power grab and a violation of the constitution. Kathy Hochul--who confirmed herself that she would try to gerrymander seats to give Joe Biden the votes he needs for his disastrous agenda--colluded with Democrats in Washington and New York to rig our elections. Despite this clear violation of law and strong ruling against them, our fight is not over yet. Hochul already announced that she is appealing the decision and we need to ensure that it is not overturned. Anything you can do to support our legal defense fund in this fight is greatly appreciated. CLICK HERE to make a contribution. In other news, the state budget deadline came and went, and despite having total control of state government, Democrats couldn't pass an on-time budget. They gave up and went home for a long weekend, leaving New Yorkers struggling with skyrocketing gas prices and the violent crime wave. Hochul and the Democrat legislature continue to prove that they are woefully out of touch with the issues and concerns New Yorkers care about. That includes their dangerous pro-criminal/anti-police agenda that continues to permeate our state government. Whether it’s our fight to repeal their horrific cashless bail law or their latest outrage of using a taxpayer-funded college campus to host a cop-killer, New York Republicans are fighting this at every level. New York Republicans are standing firmly with our law enforcement. This week, I sent a letter to SUNY Brockport calling on them to give equal time to a member of law enforcement so students wouldn’t be indoctrinated with the dishonest propaganda of a cop-killer masquerading as a political prisoner. Our state university system cannot be used as a prop for this dangerous rhetoric. You can view the letter here. New York Republicans are also leading the fight to unleash American energy production and lower gas prices for New Yorkers. Last Monday, I joined Congressman Chris Jacobs to call on Biden to immediately ramp up American energy production and stop his war on fossil fuels. We need to provide hardworking New Yorkers with relief NOW. You can read more about our efforts in the clip below. Sincerely, Nick Langworthy NYGOP Chairman WATCH: NYGOP Chairman and NY Senate GOP Leader React to Ruling Against Democrats' Illegal Gerrymander "The Court’s decision is a complete validation of what we have been saying all along —Democrats are attempting to cheat and rig elections. The judge’s ruling is an unequivocal and full-throated rebuke of New York Democrats’ brazenly illegal and unconstitutional power grab. Kathy Hochul, who admitted her goal was to gerrymander seats to rubberstamp Joe Biden’s disastrous agenda, has the same craven disrespect for the law as her former partner, Andrew Cuomo. They got caught violating the constitution and undermining the will of the people--they must get to work immediately to comply with the judge’s ruling and fix the maps.” Watch Here The Judge Ruled In Our Favor, Help Us Fight Hochul's Appeal The Supreme Court of New York State just ruled emphatically in our favor against Democrats' illegal gerrymander. Hochul has already confirmed that she is going to fight this ruling with an appeal. This is our last stand to protect elections in New York! Rush an emergency contribution to our legal fund and help fight Hochul's appeal! NYGOP Must See News: ‘Hochulmander’: NY GOP seeks meeting with Dems after judge tosses election districts New York Post Republican state legislators are “ready, willing and able” to help redraw the election districts that a judge ruled were illegally gerrymandered by Democrats, they said Friday — as the head of the state GOP singled out Gov. Kathy Hochul for blame. “It’s not just a gerrymander, we’re calling it a Hochulmander,” state Republican Party Chairman Nick Langworthy said, blaming the gerrymandering on Hochul and saying she wanted to try to preserve the Democrats’ razor-thin majority in the House of Representatives. “Kathy Hochul is directly responsible for the outcome of these maps…She was going to use her power to gerrymander districts to make sure that [President] Joe Biden has the votes for his disastrous agenda.” State Senate Minority Leader Rob Ortt (R-Lockport) and 20 other Republican legislators offered to meet Monday with Senate Majority Leader Andrea Stewart-Cousins (D-Yonkers) and Assembly Speaker Carl Heastie (D-The Bronx) in the state Capitol in Albany. Kathy Hochul and Attorney General Letitia James said they “intend to appeal” the decision in a joint statement. “The judge’s decision is a total rebuke of the brazen attempt to steal elections going forward,” Nick Langworthy, chair of the New York State Republican Committee, said in response to the ruling. Voters know exactly who is causing them pain at the pump and they are going to hold them accountable this November. If you want a return to common sense that respects taxpayers, we are going to make sure you know the Republican Party is your home,” Langworthy said. Jacobs and Langworthy held a press conference at a gas station this morning calling for actions that would bring prices down for Americans and allow the restoration of American energy independence. Additionally, they had volunteers on site conducting a voter registration drive. Read Full Here Lt. Gov. Benjamin Is Focus of Federal Inquiry Into Campaign Fraud New York Times Federal prosecutors and the F.B.I. are investigating whether Lt. Gov. Brian A. Benjamin of New York played a role in an effort to funnel fraudulent contributions to his unsuccessful 2021 campaign for New York City comptroller, and have issued subpoenas to his campaign advisers and the State Senate. The inquiry stems from a federal indictment filed late last year charging a Harlem real estate investor, Gerald Migdol, with wire fraud, aggravated identity theft and other crimes. Mr. Migdol, a longtime supporter of Mr. Benjamin’s, was accused of orchestrating a plan to misrepresent or conceal dozens of illegal contributions to Mr. Benjamin’s campaign. Read Full Here ‘We’ve got to stop fooling ourselves’: Enthusiasm gap keeps getting worse for Dems Politico At the end of October, Republicans held an 11-percentage-point advantage in voter enthusiasm. By January, that margin had ticked up to 14 points. Now, according to the most recent NBC News poll, it has swelled to 17 — a massive advantage that has foreshadowed devastating losses in Congress in prior years. The latest poll would be bad enough for Democrats. But it’s the trend line that is especially grim, seemingly impervious to a series of events — including President Joe Biden’s State of the Union address and the nomination of a judge to the Supreme Court — that Democrats had predicted might improve their candidates’ prospects in the fall. It’s beginning to look like nothing is going to bail the party out this year. The last time the enthusiasm gap was this wide, in 2010, Democrats lost more than 60 seats in the House.
