Last week over 30 Metro Detroit
DSA members new and old came out to socialize and strategize at our
DSA for Rashida kick-off event!
We formed three teams – Events, Field,
and Comms – to get started on the exciting work of
using this campaign to build DSA and socialism in
Detroit and beyond!
We will be meeting
on Zoom every Tuesday at 7PM to continue organizing our campaign! Can

Here’s what our campaign teams are up to, and what they
need from YOU to succeed:
 Events Team: We’ll be using Rashida’s popularity and star
power to connect our chapter with working-class communities, including
Muslim and Arab groups, unions, and young people on college campuses
by putting on townhalls and socials.
Needs: Arabic
speakers, social butterflies, connections to event spaces, 12th
Congressional District residents, house party hosts, social event
hosts
 Field Team: Rashida’s campaign offers us an easy way to
reach Bernie and Rashida supporters where they are at! We can talk
about Medicare For All, Green New Deal, abolishing student debt,
ending US imperialism, and more in order to recruit students and
workers into the socialist movement while also supporting Rashida’s
campaign! We will be knocking on thousands of doors to secure a
victory for our comrade Congresswoman but also looking for ways to
build relationships with local unions and community groups.
Needs: Canvass leads,
canvassers, phone bankers, union members, students, 12th
Congressional District residents to host canvasses at their
house
 Comms Team: We’re making beautiful propaganda in all
mediums, sharing the good news that when ordinary people fight
together in solidarity, the whole world is ours to win!
Needs: Researchers,
social media whizzes, memesters, TikTok stars, tech people, artists,
graphic designers, and writers.
