In April 1967, Dr. King’s “Beyond Vietnam” speech was a stirring rebuke of the U.S. establishment. Despite being told to stick to civil rights, King understood even then that America’s military domination abroad is directly tied to the violence and oppression visited upon Black, Brown, and poor people at home.
