ACTION SPOTLIGHT
Tell President Biden: Stop the Mountain Valley Fracked Gas Pipeline
The humanitarian crisis in Ukraine has underscored the dire consequences of fossil fuel dependence — yet in the southeastern U.S., the dirty energy industry is intent on bulldozing ahead with a dangerous fracked gas pipeline that would keep us shackled to climate-busting fossil fuels for generations and set us back in our fight against climate change.
The Mountain Valley Pipeline and the proposed Southgate extension would carry fracked gas from West Virginia through Virginia and into North Carolina, harming forests and wildlife, jeopardizing clean water, and threatening communities’ health and safety. It’s a financial boondoggle providing gas that nobody needs at a time when we should be investing in the clean energy sources of the future and the good-paying jobs they create.
We know we can stop this pipeline, because we’ve done it before. After years of pressure from activists like you, last year the Biden administration canceled the climate-busting Keystone XL tar sands pipeline for good.
The Mountain Valley Pipeline is a relic of a dirty energy past. Tell President Biden to stop MVP and invest in our clean energy future.

CAMPAIGN UPDATE
Bees Got Their Day in Court — and Won
NRDC has settled our long-running lawsuit challenging the EPA’s failure to comply with the Endangered Species Act (ESA) when approving dozens of dangerous “neonic” pesticides. These highly toxic chemicals kill bees and other pollinators and are a threat to our health and food supply.
Thanks to legal action from NRDC and our partners, backed by unrelenting pressure from NRDC supporters like you, the EPA is now required to evaluate the effects of three of the five major neonic pesticide chemicals in the next two and a half years.
And EPA’s findings should confirm just how harmful these neonics are to imperiled birds, bees, and other wildlife, and lead to restrictions on their use.
Now, it’s up to us to help curb harmful uses of neonics for good: Tell the EPA to save bees and protect our health and the future of our food supply by banning bee-killing uses of neonic pesticides.

BIG WINS
EPA Reinstates States’ Ability to Curb Vehicle Pollution: EPA reinstated a Clean Air Act waiver that allows California and other states to enforce vehicle tailpipe standards that are stronger than federal standards. Reaffirming this legal authority, which had been rolled back under the Trump administration, will protect public health and help address the climate crisis. Read more >

Virginia Blocks Former Trump EPA Administrator Andrew Wheeler from Becoming the State’s Top Environmental Official: Thanks in part to a massive public outcry from Virginians, the State Senate declined to confirm Andrew Wheeler as the state’s secretary of natural resources, helping protect Virginians’ health and fight the climate crisis. Tell the U.S. Postal Service: Join the Climate and Clean Air Fight! Under the leadership of a Trump-era appointee, USPS is moving forward with a scientifically-flawed plan to purchase a new fleet of almost entirely antiquated, gas-guzzling delivery trucks instead of investing in electric vehicles, despite overwhelming public opposition — including messages from over 46,000 NRDC activists like you. We’ll be delivering those letters to USPS headquarters on April 6, so add your name now. Send a message of opposition to USPS >
