11 people were killed in
terrorist attacks in Israel over the past week - from the Jewish,
Druze, Arab-Israeli and Ukrainian communities. May their memories be
for a blessing.
All Israelis are targets of
extremism. As Canadians, we stand against this hate & unite

Over the last week, we have been greatly concerned to see an
escalation in terrorist attacks in Israel including shootings and
stabbings that have taken 11 lives. Learn about these innocent victims

We are encouraged that Canadian and Israeli leadership have been
speaking at the most senior levels, and that the Government of Canada
has condemned the attacks and reaffirmed its support and allyship for
Israel in the face of this wave of terror attacks on innocent Israeli
civilians. Learn more on Twitter,

“Life goes on and people are resilient, and this is why this
country exists and why we should all be here.”
Jewish Federation of Edmonton CEO Stacey Levitt-Wright
and Canadian - Israeli, and former CIJA staffer Adir Krafman, shared
their experiences of being in Israel this week amidst the wave of
terror attacks.

CIJA is actively engaged in consultations with government on
developing plans to combat online hate. On March 7, we represented the
Jewish community at a roundtable with the Hon. Ahmed Hussen, Minister
of Housing and Diversity & Inclusion. On March 18, we were part of
a roundtable discussion led by with a diverse group of community
stakeholders on the topic of online safety led by Canadian Heritage
Minister Pablo Rodriguez, who this week announced that the federal
government is renewing its campaign promise to craft legislations to
combat online hate. A 12-member advisory panel will advise the
government on a legislative and regulatory framework to address
hateful content online. CIJA was interviewed by the Canadian
Jewish News about this positive development.
