To God We Belong and to Him We Return

Assalamu Alaikum, Email,

It is with heavy hearts that AMP mournfully announces the passing of Issa Sahouri "Abu Saleh", a pillar of the American Muslim community and a lifelong supporter of the Palestinian cause.

Born in Sinjil, a small Palestinian village northeast of Ramallah, Issa Sahouri would spend decades in service of Palestine and the American Muslim community. His children and grandchildren follow in his footsteps, with his daughter Dr. Nida Sahouri serving as AMP’s Chicago Chairwoman, and Hatem Sahouri serving on AMP’s Palestine Convention Steering Committee. His son, Fadi Sahouri, previously served on AMP’s Palestine Convention Steering Committee as well and is a lifelong supporter of the Palestinian cause, while his daughter Fida Sahouri is consistently on the frontlines in helping AMP in all our efforts.

A pioneer in his community, Issa Sahouri is considered a social and spiritual father by many in the greater Chicago community and around the country.

On behalf of AMP's Chairman and Board, Executive Director, staff, and all of AMP's nationwide chapters and volunteers, we extend our condolences to the Sahouri family on the passing of their father, and we ask Allah SWT to accept him from the righteous and to grant him Al-Firdaws.

Sincerely,
The AMP Family
