Friend,

A federal judge has ruled it was "more likely than not" that former president Donald Trump violated the law and "corruptly attempted to obstruct" Congress when he incited an insurrection on our Capitol and tried to overturn the results of the 2020 election.

The judge's ruling also cleared the release of documents from Trump's co-conspirator in his post-election Big Lie, attorney John Eastman. These documents will be reviewed by the bipartisan committee investigating the Jan. 6 insurrection and will likely embolden the case for the disgraced former President facing criminal charges.

In his ruling, the federal judge likened former President Trump and Eastman's plan to "a coup in search of a legal theory," noting that it spurred "violent attacks."

This is a significant development. And what is becoming clear is that the conspiracy-laden house of cards that Donald Trump and his sycophants built to overturn a democratic election is collapsing quickly. But you know as well as I do that – even after such an unequivocal ruling from a federal judge about Trump's potentially criminal acts – Republicans in Congress and on Fox News will do everything they can to sweep this ruling under the rug.

That means it's up to us to maintain the drumbeat for full accountability – and it's beyond critical that you, Friend, as a highly engaged Democrat, speak out to demand accountability under the law for Donald Trump.

Tonight, I need 5,000 members of this team to speak out before midnight. Even if you've taken action before, I'm counting on your response again in light of this new ruling: Should criminal charges be considered for Donald Trump for un-American attempts to overthrow our democratic election?

Thank you,
