John – In a recent interview, A.G. Holder made it clear that gerrymandering and voter suppression aren’t just a threat to the Democratic Party. They pose a threat to our democracy itself:
Do you agree with A.G. Holder that rampant GOP gerrymandering and voter suppression could pose a potential existential threat to our democratic form of government?
At the NDRC, we’ve been clear-eyed about the threat since the very beginning. That’s why we’ve been working since 2017, along with our affiliates, to hold Republican map manipulators accountable, support Democrats who are committed to fairness in redistricting, and fight in the courts to overturn Republican gerrymanders and defend fair maps from baseless challenges.
And while we’ve made a lot of progress in the last few years, even more still needs to be done to fight gerrymandering and protect the right to vote.
