<[link removed]> DELIVERING RESULTS: Governor Hogan Signs
Largest Tax Cut in Maryland History
<[link removed]>

<[link removed]>

Amid skyrocketing inflation across the country, Governor Hogan signed into law
a nearly $2 billion tax cut on retirees, working families, and small businesses
– the largest tax cut in Maryland history. Earlier this month, Governor Hogan
was also the first governor in America to suspend the gas tax.

This is the eighth consecutive year that Governor Hogan has cut taxes, fees,
and tolls on Marylanders and the second year in a row that Governor Hogan has
secured the largest tax cut in state history. Governor Hogan is the only
Republican governor in America to secure this level of tax cuts from an
overwhelmingly progressive Democratic legislature. Partially as a result of
this reduced tax burden, Maryland has gone from 49th in economic performance to
number 6 under Governor Hogan – the greatest turnaround in America.

The historic Maryland Retirement Tax Elimination Act of 2022 – in particular –
was a key campaign promise from Governor Hogan during his 2014 and 2018
campaigns, which was initially met with years of resistance in the legislature.
Governor Hogan’s ability to work across party lines to deliver on his campaign
promises and the priorities of the people of his state explains, in part, why
he remains the most popular governor in America who continues to set an example
for the rest of the nation on how to lead.

Governor Hogan Meets With Cuban, Venezuela, and Nicaraguan Pro-Democracy
Leaders and Activists in Miami
<[link removed]>
Governor Hogan met with Cuban, Venezuela, and Nicaraguan pro-Democracy leaders
and activists in Miami.

As was first reported
<[link removed]>
by FOX News, during the visit, Governor Hogan made a clear statement
condemning Venezuelan dictator Nicolás Maduro as the Biden administration makes
overtures to his regime. According to Governor Hogan, “the energy crisis cannot
be solved by robbing the people of Venezuela of their dreams of freedom. That’s
not what America stands for. Maduro makes common cause with Putin because he is
a vicious dictator, not an American ally.” Governor Hogan was the first governor

<[link removed]>
in America to suspend the gas tax in his state and has called
<[link removed]>
on the Biden administration to reverse its anti-energy policies.

During the visit, Governor Hogan met with former Miami Mayor Tomas Regalado
and other leaders at the InterAmerican Institute for Democracy, a pro-democracy
think tank.

Governor Hogan later joined a roundtable discussion at the Bay of Pigs Museum,
also known as the Brigade 2506 Museum and Library, which is the official museum
dedicated to the memory of those who fought for Cuba’s freedom during the Bay
of Pigs Invasion.

Governor Hogan heard stories of the struggle for freedom across Latin America
and received a tour of the museum from Johnny Lopez de la Cruz — US Army
colonel and President of the Bay of Pigs Veterans Association.

Honored to receive a tour of the Bay of Pigs museum from Johnny Lopez de la
Cruz, a veteran of the Bay of Pigs and U.S. Army.

For those who say that socialism is the answer, I hope they will hear Johnny's
story. Our freedom is fragile and worth fighting for.pic.twitter.com/JL9Yp3ul3n

Cutting our state’s sky-high retirement taxes is something we have been trying
to accomplish for seven years. This agreement will deliver on our promise to
provide real, long-term relief for hard-working Marylanders, and help create
more jobs and more opportunity.pic.twitter.com/lixPV1wB17
