Dear Friends,
Thank you for joining our celebration of Women’s History Month as we dedicated our @TeamPelosi Twitter feed every day in March to paying tribute to the hard work and contributions of my outstanding House Democratic women colleagues.
March 2022 was an historic and special Women’s History Month in many respects, from being joined on the dais by Vice President Kamala Harris for President Biden’s first State of the Union Address to celebrate the progress that Democrats Delivered for America’s working families this past year and to echo the President’s vow to keep building a better America – with equity, justice, and opportunity for women; to celebrating the 50th Anniversary of Title IX with the legendary Billie Jean King; to relishing the 12th Anniversary of the Affordable Care Act that created more equity for women in health care; and, finally, to the historic hearings ahead of Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson’s confirmation to the Supreme Court, to which she will rise as the first Black woman Associate Justice in our nation’s history.
Throughout our celebration of Women’s History Month, Team Pelosi and our Grassroots VIPs, our Volunteers in Politics, also engaged with several of the amazing women leaders of our House Democratic Caucus in our Weekly Volunteer Update discussions on topics including the power and necessity of Representation, Equal Pay, the voice of Women on Policy and World Affairs, and mentoring and creating space for more women to run for office and to serve in the public sphere.
Women’s History Month 2022 has taught us, that: women are making history; women are making progress; women are defending Democracy at home and around the globe; and American women leaders, in particular, are at the head of the tables for conversations of global consequence, including meeting with our partners and allies, bringing our NATO partners and European allies together to hold Putin responsible for his diabolical war on the Ukrainian people and securing life-saving military, humanitarian, and economic assistance for the people of Ukraine.
Women – Democratic women, in particular, are getting it done. The month of March may be over but we continue to celebrate women today and every day as we are building a better America with women and for women!
As we close, please enjoy this montage of our tributes to the House Democratic women, with music from San Francisco’s own, acclaimed American Jazz and Cabaret singer, Paula West. If you don’t already, do follow us on Twitter at @TeamPelosi to join the conversation and to learn more about what our House Democrats are doing to Deliver for the American people and to keep and strengthen our majority in the coming election!
As you always hear me say, there is nothing more wholesome to our politics and to our future than the increased participation of women. I am honored to lead the most diverse Congress in history, with trailblazing Democratic women making progress For The People every day.
Thank you for joining me this past month in celebrating and supporting Democratic women!
Warmest regards,
NANCY
