Dear Friend,
First and foremost, our hearts go out to all the innocent people who are being hurt by the unprovoked attack on Ukraine. The vast, unnecessary human suffering is heartbreaking. Our hearts also go out to the families of the Israelis recently killed and injured by two terror attacks, one in Beersheva and one in Hadera.
As Ukraine – a sovereign, democratic country – is being invaded by an authoritarian autocrat with visions of restoring a lost empire, it is appalling that against this horrific backdrop, activists are pushing false, dangerous comparisons between Palestinians and Ukrainians – trying to take advantage of the world’s sympathy for Ukraine by inserting a radical distortion of history that has only one purpose: to undermine Israel. I wrote more about how this comparison is not only inaccurate but immoral in my latest Times of Israel column. The absurdity of this false comparison is even greater in light of the terror attacks against Israeli civilians.
It seems like anti-Israel sentiment is escalating, between these comparisons and Amnesty International’s Paul O’Brien’s outrageous recent comments that Israel should not exist as a state of the Jewish people. That’s exactly why we’re fighting to strengthen support for the U.S.-Israel relationship in Congress, and why your support is critical.
Your support helps us endorse new candidates who will fight back against the small but vocal group of Israel detractors in Congress. We recently talked to candidate Steve Irwin, who is running to represent Pennsylvania’s 12th Congressional district and facing an anti-Israel candidate. I was inspired by Steve’s personal commitment to the U.S.-Israel relationship and hope you will help us in sending him and our other pro-Israel candidates to Congress.
Thank you for all you do, and please share this email with your friends, family, and loved ones.
Best,
Jeff

READ: Times of Israel: Comparing the situation in Ukraine and Palestinians is amoral and inaccurate – “Palestinian advocates complain that while the world is mobilizing against the Russian invasion by imposing massive sanctions, the Palestinian effort to isolate Israel – diplomatically and through boycotts and sanctions – has failed to receive the same level of support. Why, they ask, doesn’t the world react to Israeli actions the way it is responding to Russian attacks on Ukraine? Put simply, it’s because the two aren’t in the least bit comparable, neither today nor historically.” – READ MORE from PIA’s Executive Director Jeff Mendelsohn in his latest Times of Israel column.

ICYMI: Steve Irwin (D) (PA-12) — PIA Endorsed Candidate for Congress
Steve Irwin, who is running in a competitive Democratic primary to represent Pennsylvania’s 12th congressional district, joined PIA PAC for an exclusive members-only conversation with PIA PAC Executive Director Jeff Mendelsohn. Irwin, who serves as the chair of the U.S. Civil Rights Commission’s State Advisory Board and was previously appointed to head the Pennsylvania Securities Commission by Governor Ed Rendell, talked about his current race against Justice Democrats-backed candidate Summer Lee and why he’s such a steadfast supporter of the U.S.-Israel relationship.
