Hi there, John, it's Deb and Jerry writing to you. Our daughter, Abby, is running to defeat Sen. Chuck Grassley (R) in Iowa and expand our Democratic Senate majority.

We've lived in Sherrill, a town just north of Dubuque that’s home to about 200 people, since before Abby was born. We love Sherrill: the rolling farmlands, the country roads that seem to stretch forever and a community that sticks together through both the thick and the thin.

While we've lived here, though, we've watched Iowa change – and not always for the better. Our state has lost 30,000 family farms since Chuck Grassley has been in office, and good-paying union jobs – like the one that supported our family – have slowly disappeared. Far too many of our young people are being forced to leave home for states with more opportunities and better jobs.

While Iowa has changed, our leadership hasn't. Sen. Grassley was first sent to Washington nearly half a century ago and, in that time, he's turned his back on working families like ours. It's time to elect a new leader who will help create more good-paying jobs, move Iowa forward and make this a state that young people are flocking to, not leaving in droves.

Abby understands Iowa: where it has been, where it is and where it will be. That's why she chose to stay and build her life here. Abby believes in our state and our future. Trust us, there's no better leader for Iowa right now than our daughter.

People here know it's time for change: only 27% of likely voters want to send Sen. Grassley back to Washington for an eighth term. Iowa is ready for Abby, and Abby is ready to win.
