It’s Eric, Annette Taddeo’s husband. As I’m sure you know, my wife is running a grassroots campaign against Ron DeSantis to be the next governor of Florida.

Now, people don’t believe us when we tell them we got married on April Fool's day. But, not only is it true, it wasn’t by coincidence. At our reception, we actually had people find their table by figuring out a riddle. My anniversary gift to Annette will be flowers (she loves roses), a really nice dinner, a new car, and a diamond necklace. I’m kidding about the car and necklace. For too long, Republicans in Florida – led by Ron DeSantis – have pulled our state apart by playing to folks’ worst prejudices.

From the moment I met her, I knew Annette had a unique gift for bringing people together. Throughout her life, she’s had to.

After fleeing from her home in Colombia when it was attacked by Marxist terrorists, Annette came to the United States and worked her way through school. From what she describes, it wasn’t always easy.

One of my favorite things my wife says is, “I don’t know the words 'give up.'”
