The DC, Maryland, and Virginia area’s mobilization for the Mass Poor People’s & Low-Wage Workers’ Assembly & Moral March on Washington and to the Polls on June 18, 2022 starts this weekend!

 

On Sunday, April 3rd and Monday April 4th, join Poor People’s Campaign national co-chairs Bishop William Barber and Reverend Liz Theoharis, local PPC teams and national and local partners as we kick off the DMV’s mobilization for June 18th. Attend (or livestream) as many of the events as you can. Letting us know you're coming is particularly important for planning the mobilization meeting on Sunday and the dedication on Monday. The Mass Poor People’s & Low-Wage Workers’ Assembly & Moral March on Washington and to the Polls on June 18, 2022 will be a generationally-transformative declaration of the power of poor and low-wealth people and our moral allies to say that this system is killing ALL of us and we can’t…we won’t…we refuse to be silent anymore!

On Sunday, April 3rd at 2:30 pm, be sure to join Bishop William J. Barber, II, Reverend Liz Theoharis and members of the National, DC, MD & VA Poor People's Campaigns at the  "Mobilization Captain and Partner Leaders meeting;" where we will discuss, learn and share the Organizing Action Plan for the Mass Poor People's & Low-Wage Workers' Assembly Moral March on Washington and to the Polls June 18, 2022 March in Washington. The in-person only Mobilization meeting is at First Trinity Lutheran Church at 501 4th St, NW DC. Let us know you're coming so we bring enough materials and food.

 

Calling the Nation to a Meeting NOW: Dedication & Moral March

 

On Monday, April 4 at 11:00am, join Bishop William J. Barber, II, Reverend Liz Theoharis, clergy, partners, and directly impacted people with the Poor People's Campaign from across the DMV at Freedom Plaza (14th St, & Pennsylvania Ave., NW) to dedicate the space for the Mass Poor People's and Low-Wage Workers' Assembly and Moral March on Washington and to the Polls on June 18th, 2022! After gathering and dedicating Freedom Plaza we will march to call the nation to a meeting to address the needs of the more than 140 million poor and low-income people in America.

Sunday, April 3 at 10:00am: Bishop William J. Barber, II will preach "A Message to the Nation - The Moral Mandate for a Mass Poor People's Low-Wage Workers' Assembly;" at National City Christian Church (5 Thomas Circle, NW - Washington, DC).

Reverend Liz Theoharis' book reading and discussion of We Cry Justice ; at Culture Coffee Too (300 Riggs Rd. NE - Washington, DC). No RSVP is required.

 

Monday, April 4 at 10:00am: Bishop William J. Barber, II releases "The Poor People's Pandemic Report" - a generationally significant report that will uncover things that will shock the nation's conscience and the political establishment; at the National Press Club (512 14th St., NW - Washington, DC). This is a closed event, we invite you to watch via livestream.
