It’s April fools day - which at Love146 is a day we pause & realize we can’t send a serious email. So today: we hope you feel permission to have joy.

It’s April fools day - which at Love146 is a day annually when I realize that I can’t send out a serious email ;) So we just want to pause and say: we hope no matter what chaos you juggle or how heavy it is, you feel permission to have joy.

At Love146, one of our values is unfiltered joy.

Why “Unfiltered Joy?” Well, here are the words printed on the wall of our office: In solidarity with children who are overcoming, we will laugh and play, celebrate the dignity of each person, and cherish the breakthroughs and wins along the way. As poet Cleo Wade says, “Joy is a form of radical self-care.” The vision of a world without child trafficking brings us joy.

People often think this work must always be depressing. Always sad. Always somber. But that’s not always true. While of course there are times where it’s crushing or you want to scream into the abyss, we also genuinely find joy in our days working with children impacted by trafficking. We do not damper our humor here. And anyone who spends time with children and teens knows: you’re gonna get some belly laughs in.

So today, we hope you too find space to laugh and feel lightness. You deserve it – no joke.
