Dear Friend,
Yesterday, I helped pass the Affordable Insulin Now Act, bipartisan legislation that will lower the cost of insulin, the lifesaving medication that more than 7 million people in the United States living with diabetes rely on to stay healthy.
The issue I hear about most from North Texans is lowering the high cost of health care and prescription drugs and it’s been one of my top priorities since my first day in Congress. Last week, I conducted a health care survey and hundreds of you shared stories with me about how lowering health care costs would improve your lives. I am proud to have helped pass the Affordable Insulin Now Act to deliver real relief for folks.
The Affordable Insulin Now Act will cap-out-of pocket costs at no more than $35 per month regardless of if you have private insurance or use Medicare, saving folks nearly half of their monthly insulin costs. Americans pay more than 10 times the price of insulin compared to other high-income countries and from 2014 to 2019, the average retail price of insulin rose by 54 percent. This price gouging is unacceptable.
Do you support lowering the cost of insulin?

Earlier this month I held a health care roundtable discussion with North Texans and local health care leaders where I heard from Shane from Garland. Shane is one of the 25% of folks with diabetes who have had to ration their insulin because it is so expensive. Shane put it plainly, rationing insulin means death.
I was proud to vote for this legislation to ensure that no one has to ration the insulin they need because of price gouging. I urge the Senate to pass this lifesaving legislation.
Sincerely,
Colin Allred Member of Congress
