Let's make this Ramadan a little different...
Asalamu'alaikum, I pray you are in the best of health and faith, insha’Allah, here are some of my reflections for this Ramadan,
🤲 Renewing our intentions
Why are we doing this?
I have considered this same question this past year whilst visiting our communities across the country. To see the sheer volume of the diversity of the work Muslim communities are involved in is astounding, including food banks, providing shelter to the homeless, to toy packs for refugee kids, there is so much outpouring of kindness and generosity. It is a reminder that our efforts big or small, matter. We do this work because it does make a difference.
This Ramadan let us continue to do so for the sake of Allah, let us remain united in our efforts insha'Allah.
🤍 A moment to reflect
From last Ramadan to this one, much has changed around us. We continue to deal with the effects of the pandemic, a cost of living crisis, and globally we witness war, suffering, and injustice. This Ramadan we must reflect on the world around us as well as within us. What role are we playing to make the world a little better?
Ramadan is the month for giving and that means not just with our money, but our deeds and our time. I hope as we return to somewhat normal, we will open our hearts to those around us, to neighbours, friends, and family. To share the beauty and blessings of this month.
🌱 An invitation for change
This year marks the MCB's 25 year anniversary, and my thoughts are on how can we create a better future for generations to come. The MCB will launch our Waqf project to help us ensure our communities have a strong and articulate voice, a truly representative body.
We hope that with your support we can build a strong institution and leave a lasting legacy.
