Jack, I wanted to write to say thank you for joining this team. We’re building a community-led campaign, and every step you take—whether it’s volunteering, donating or signing up to join the team for the first time—is a building block for our movement. So thank you.

We’ve been fortunate to see and do a lot since we started getting out on the campaign trail and meeting with people. My husband, Jonathan, and my son Henry came along for a trip to New Hampshire. I introduced Henry at one event, and he stood up and said, “To all the other kids in here: Who wants to have a dance party?” And he led them out in a line.

It was a good reminder: As we run, we’re going to have fun doing it (thank you, Henry!).

I’ve been welcomed into bakeries and women-owned shops in Iowa. I took in a farmers market on a beautiful day in South Carolina and was invited to speak at a church on Sunday morning.

In New Hampshire, I visited my old stomping grounds at Dartmouth, where we met with hundreds of students and community members.

Everywhere I’ve been, I’ve asked: What should government be doing that it isn’t? The first thing people say is they want to feel like their leaders are listening to them. Under the current president, we’ve gotten away from that.

As your president, I’ll get us back there. I hear in questions fear and uncertainty over the future. It comes up a lot in connection with climate change and how we can make the Green New Deal happen. It’s often the first, second and third question. There’s an urgency to our fight, because our planet’s on the line.

A dear friend is even carrying our campaign sign to mountain peaks across New Hampshire. It illustrates what winning this will take: everything—no detail too big, no act too small.

We have so much work ahead of us, and it will only be made possible by people like you powering our campaign forward. Together, we can root out corruption, get dark money out of our elections and finally make progress on the most urgent issues facing our communities. The days of special interests calling the shots will be over. Now is our time to build a movement based on compassion and courage. Thank you for being part of it.

Kirsten

We’re growing this campaign for president without money from corporate PACs or federal lobbyists, and we don’t have a super PAC. With your support, whether it’s $1, $5 or $10, we will build a movement to take on powerful special interests. Donate today to own a piece of it:
