Team,
My FEC deadline is just hours away, and I’m about to ask you to chip in $5 to help me reach my goal, but first I want to talk about a critical issue that’s been on my mind.
Our sacred right to vote is being attacked from all sides. Republicans in state legislatures across the country are openly trying to make it harder for folks to vote.
They’re changing voting laws, closing polling places, rejecting ballots, and proposing gerrymandered maps — and they’re doing all this so they can choose who they represent, instead of being fairly elected to represent the people.
Folks, we cannot let these blatant attacks on our democracy go unchecked.
As the representative of the Nation’s Civil Rights District, I know just how hard the Foot Soldiers of the Civil Rights movement fought to secure the right to vote for all Americans.
That’s why I’ve consistently introduced legislation to restore the original protections of the Voting Rights Act that were struck down by the Supreme Court in 2013.
I ran for Congress to fight for the families and the legacy of Alabma’s Black Belt — and this work is more important than ever before as old battles are becoming new again.
That’s why I’m asking for your support: we’re facing unprecedented challenges to voting rights, and your contributions keep me in the fight. Will you chip in anything you can to my end-of-quarter goal, and help me keep pushing for progress?
Thank you,
Terri
