National Nurses United

Only an hour into the debate, Medicare for All came under intense attack by some on the stage. “The vast majority of Democrats do not support Medicare for All,” they said. “160 million people like their private insurance!”

But it couldn’t be further from the truth. As I type this, the Medicare for All Act of 2019 has 119 cosponsors — a majority support of Democrats in the House. And polling shows that 85% of Democrats support the bill.

We need to send a powerful message that these right-wing talking points can’t be trusted. Add your name to our rapid-response petition tonight and show just how many of us are demanding Medicare for All.

Bernie said it best: “We have a system where we spend twice as much on health care as any other country, but we have 80 million uninsured and underinsured… 500,000 people go bankrupt because of medical-related issues.”

Defending the status quo isn’t going to solve this crisis. Defeatist attitudes and right-wing, Big Pharma-funded talking points won’t win the transformational change we need. Only Medicare for All can do that.

Add your name right now to our petition and let’s showcase just how much grassroots support this movement has. Then, sign up to join a Medicare for All volunteer shift in your community.

We need Medicare for All. We deserve Medicare for All. It’s a basic human right. And most importantly, it’s well within our reach. But it’ll take a whole lot of grassroots power to get there.

I hope you’ll join us, Friend. And I’m truly grateful for all that you do.

In solidarity,
