Friend: I hope you didn't miss my message below. With extreme Trump loyalists challenging me in this race – hoping to dismantle Democrats' control of the Senate and hand the chamber back to Mitch McConnell – donations are pouring in to keep this seat in Democratic hands. I'm now just $2,332 short of my official FEC deadline fundraising goal – but with the GOP going all in to capture this seat, close is not enough. We absolutely cannot fall short.

At this point, we have just mere hours to make up this shortfall. I know that, as an important member of this grassroots team, you care deeply about protecting and expanding Democratic Senate control. That's why, with so much on the line – and a big FEC deadline before us – I'm counting on you to make a donation before it's too late. Will you give $5 or more right now so we can hit this goal, protect this Democratic seat, and expand Democratic control of the Senate?

Subject: My first official FEC deadline of the election year

Friend, my campaign is coming up on the first official FEC fundraising deadline of the election year. Republicans only need to flip one seat to take back control of the Senate, so Mitch McConnell and his allies will be watching us closely for any sign of vulnerability – and unfortunately, right now, we're forecasted to fall $7,621 short of our Q1 goal.

Before I continue, I want to say this: I am so appreciative of your continued support. Whenever I make an important ask, you step up. Thank you.

But please also take stock of the urgency of this moment: An FEC deadline means we have to publicly report our fundraising. If we fall short, that could signal to Mitch McConnell and the GOP to pile on their attacks here and make this Democratic seat a top target for defeat.

We simply cannot be in that position – not when the stakes are so high. Not when I'm facing radical, Trump-loyalist opponents who – if elected – would obstruct President Biden's Supreme Court nominees and work to shield Donald Trump from any accountability whatsoever for his potentially criminal behavior in the White House.

Not when Rick Scott, the leader of the GOP Senate campaign arm, is waiting in the wings to pass a radical, 11-point plan that would be a disaster for our country – a plan that includes tax hikes on millions of seniors and low-income Americans, disgraceful attacks on reproductive freedom, and a commitment to not only resume construction of Trump's vanity border wall project, but to actually name the wall after the disgraced former president himself. Make no mistake: A Republican Senate majority would be a nightmare for our country.

That's why we must come through on big goals like this. Hitting this goal will not only show the strength of our Democratic campaign, but also ensure we have the tangible resources to bolster our operations and expand Democratic control of the Senate. For reproductive rights, for climate justice, for accountability for Donald Trump, and for so much more, we must rise to the moment.

Your donation, Friend, could ensure we close our budget gap.

Because you're someone who cares deeply about protecting Democratic Senate control, I know you'll take this seriously: Please, before my end-of-quarter FEC deadline, can you chip in $5 or more to defend this Democratic Senate seat and keep Democrats in control of the Senate? The months ahead will be challenging, and we need grassroots resources here and now to compete.

With so much gratitude,

Dick
