Team, did you know that 91% of Americans support legalizing marijuana?

Across nearly every demographic—white, Black, young, old, Democrat, Republican—a majority of people support legalizing marijuana for both medical and recreational purposes. In fact, only 8% of Americans think cannabis should be illegal. But unfortunately, that 8% includes President Joe Biden.

To date, President Biden has still not come out in support of cannabis legalization. That’s why we’re calling on him to change his position and push Congress to pass legislation to legalize cannabis, once and for all.

Legalizing marijuana is a slam dunk issue. Many states have already legalized it—they’ve seen thousands of jobs created, more tourism and revenue for the state, and far fewer people arrested and jailed. Cannabis also helps ease pain for those with chronic illnesses, helps veterans manage symptoms of PTSD, and is far safer than alcohol.

Beyond its health and economic benefits, marijuana is also a political winner that Democrats can’t afford to give to Republicans. Legalization is supported by 95% of Democrats, but it’s also supported by huge majorities of Republicans and Independents. It’s a wedge issue that Democrats can deliver on.

That’s why Ground Game Texas is putting marijuana on the ballot across Texas. We’ve launched campaigns across the state to register thousands of voters and mobilize them behind legalization efforts. These campaigns will help end the War on Drugs in our state, and they will help elect Democrats in the process. This is a winning issue—and we’re so grateful to have your support.
