As we get ready to close the books on the first quarter of the year, I can’t help but think about all the big, game-changing wins we’ve secured in the fight for fair maps – and about all the work we still have to do to defend our democracy in the months and years ahead.

Before I go any further, let me ask: Can you donate before midnight to help the NDRC reach our end-of-quarter goal and keep doing everything we can to WIN the fight for fair maps?

I’m pleased that Republicans are being held accountable by state judicial branches for their arrogant attempts to illegitimately draw their way to political power. It’s why voters in North Carolina and Pennsylvania will be casting ballots using fair maps this year.

But recent developments – in particular, the inconsistency of the U.S. Supreme Court in the Wisconsin and Alabama cases – show that the fight is far from over.

It’s clear that we still have a long way to go in our fight for fair redistricting. This year, the NDRC, our affiliates, and our allies intend to continue defending fair maps as well as supporting voters in lawsuits against manipulated ones. We’ll also keep working to hold Republican map manipulators accountable for the damage they’ve done and boost candidates in the 2022 elections who support fair redistricting.

This is tireless work done in the service of defending one of our nation’s most basic principles – that voters should have the freedom to choose their own leaders in free and fair elections – and it will take a significant amount of time and resources. I couldn’t be prouder of our team, and of this community.
