Naomi Steinberg join J Street’s Dr. Debra Shushan to discuss Russia’s
invasion of Ukraine, the humanitarian crisis and Israel’s response on
Monday, April 4, 12pm Eastern. Register to join us here. [ [link removed] ]In Ukraine,
millions of families have fled an increasingly brutal war as Russian
artillery pounds hospitals, apartment buildings and critical
infrastructure, leaving scenes of devastation not seen in Europe for
decades. For those of us committed to the struggle for peace, democracy
and human rights, this attack from a brutal authoritarian is a striking
reminder of how vital and connected our shared struggle for democratic
freedom is around the world. Monday, we’ll be joined by two experts to
discuss different aspects of the ongoing crisis. [ [link removed] ]With the HIAS refugee
agency working with partners on the ground and in the United States to
support Ukrainians fleeing the violence, Naomi Steinberg will join us for
the first half of this briefing to update us on the plight of refugees and
what’s being done to care for and resettle them in Europe, the America and
around the world. For the second half, Tal Shalev, Chief Political
Correspondent for Walla News in Israel, will join us to discuss how
Israeli leaders are approaching the Ukraine crisis. As Prime Minister
Bennett has sought to act as a mediator and looked to walk a fine line
between strategic relationships with both Washington and the Kremlin, many
have called on Israel to do more to support Ukraine and confront Russian
aggression.
