As Know Your IX gears up for Sexual Assault Awareness Month in April, we’re hearing from more and more student survivors that their schools are violating their civil rights during Title IX processes. As the Biden administration continues to draft a new Title IX rule, the DeVos Title IX rule continues to allow schools to shirk their responsibility to take sexual violence seriously and provide survivors with the resources they need.

We needed a new rule yesterday, and with the administration’s current timeline, we still may not see a new rule before the next school year. But even with the DeVos rule still in place, there are actions students can take when their rights are violated!

To make this easier for students, we’re releasing an FAQ guide next week, made by students, for students, walking you through how to file a complaint with the Office for Civils Rights (OCR) at the Department of Education.
