John –

Today, the House Judiciary Committee approved the MORE Act, which decriminalizes marijuana at the federal level, enacts restorative justice, and makes the cannabis industry more diverse and equitable.

I've been leading the fight for sensible federal cannabis policy for years, John. So, it was exciting and frankly very emotional for me to be in the hearing room as Chairman Nadler announced the final vote, which was 24-10 and bipartisan.

This is yet another critical milepost on our journey to end the failed prohibition of cannabis that has filled the federal prison system with thousands of non-violent offenders, ruined countless lives, and devastated communities of color.

We've still got work to do – the bill still needs to pass the full House of Representatives, and then the Senate. Nevertheless, today's vote is a tremendous victory for progressive reform, for racial justice, for personal freedom, and for economic opportunity.

Thank you for standing with me in this fight, John.

Earl
