Tonight is an FEC deadline. I know you may be getting a lot of requests, but I’m hoping you’ll give me a minute to explain why your support is so important and consider making a donation today.

So here’s the deal: I have some modest goals for our campaign that allow us to fund the important and ongoing communications and organizing work we do. We didn’t shut our campaign down after Election Day because I don’t believe we can win the fights we care about that way.

We cannot win on big and important issues — like passing gun safety legislation, taking aggressive action on climate change, or protecting democracy — by simply showing up right before Election Day and asking people to vote.

But to keep this work going, I do need to ask for your support from time to time. What do you say?

The work we’re doing is about more than me or my campaign. I want to do everything I can to help my Democratic colleagues who are vulnerable this November. With the state of the Republican Party, it’s hard to imagine a more important midterm election than this November. Seriously.

Take a second to think about what it would mean to lose the Senate this November. How dangerous and damaging do you think a Republican Senate would be?

It’s not just a return to majority leader for Mitch McConnell. There are leaders in the Republican caucus who still want to overturn the Affordable Care Act, raise taxes on the poorest Americans, and gut Roe v. Wade. There’s almost 0 chance they’d hold a hearing for a Biden Supreme Court nominee, and who knows what stunt they’d pull to try to rig the 2024 election if things don’t go their way.

There certainly won’t be climate or gun safety legislation with Republicans. They are far more interested in keeping profits in the pockets of the oil companies who are destroying our planet and the gun manufacturers who are getting rich while parents worry about their children’s safety.

Reaching our campaign’s modest goal is important if we’re going to hold the majority. So if you can, please contribute $5 or any amount you’re able before our official FEC deadline. The truth is it’s been a tough month for fundraising, so every donation makes a big difference.
