I'm not a politician, John.

But I know the Central Valley community. I've worked serving students and their parents for two decades as an educator in public schools. My husband has spent his career working in the ag industry here.

This campaign is about doing something that Kevin McCarthy never has. We're going to engage this community around the real issues that matter for the Central Valley -- health care access, education, raising our wages, strengthening our agricultural economy, and fixing our immigration system.

No community will be written off because they are "too Republican" or vote too infrequently. Defeating a guy like Kevin McCarthy means talking to everyone. So right now, we're hiring and training bilingual organizers to begin mobilizing voters in every corner of this district as early as possible.

I've received a ton of advice from "experts'' and operatives who always seem to know what's best. And it's the same story: raise as much money as possible, stay away from the tough questions in the press, and buy up TV ads as we get closer to the election.

I can tell you right now that's not how I'm going to run this campaign.

Kevin McCarthy wants us to believe that he can't be beat. But I've seen what this community is capable of when we come together -- and that's exactly what it's going to take to get this done.
