Earlier this month, Florida Republicans delivered a devastating blow when they passed a 15-week abortion ban through the state legislature.
We know that Governor DeSantis plans to sign this bill into law, and while it may be unconstitutional now, it’s quite possible the Supreme Court will overturn Roe v. Wade and the 15-week ban will be allowed to stand.
The effects of this ban will be devastating for reproductive freedom in Florida and especially for our most vulnerable communities that already lack sufficient access to reproductive healthcare.
I’ve spent the majority of my career running finance operations for a number of candidates and organizations across Florida. I know how crucial it is that we build our resources now for the fight that lies ahead.
If there were ever a time to get involved, it would be now. As Roe v. Wade’s future hangs in the balance, we have to be prepared to fight back once this ban goes into effect.
And with the ban scheduled to start in less than four months and the 2022 midterm elections only seven months away, we have no time to waste.
