Dear Neighbors,
I'm very pleased to announce that my legislation has gone into effect which creates an opt-in email alert system for residents, keeping them aware of any change in the status of a construction permit, including stop work orders.
Residents will be able to sign up for email alerts from the Department of Buildings regarding multiple buildings. Status updates will be available for both new buildings under construction and existing structures undergoing renovation.
New Yorkers are overwhelmed by the seemingly ever-growing number of construction projects in their communities. At the very least, they should have easy access to the most up-to-date information about work underway near their homes, schools, etc. And by signing up for updates about work on a particular building, residents will also be able to find out if that work is legal. Read my legislation here.
How to Sign-Up for Email Notifications
Visit this Dept of Buildings' webpage and enter your email address and the "Job Number(s)" of the construction project(s) for which you want to receive status updates. The DOB will send you weekly emails showing the status of each Job Number entered.
How to Find Your Construction Project "Job Number"
- Go to the Buildings Information System (BIS) on the DOB website.
- Enter the address of the building, and then click "Jobs/Filings" on the Property Profile Overview. The Job Number and the Job Status for each of the projects at that building will be displayed.
PLEASE NOTE:
Email notifications will not be sent for a Job Number with a Job Status of completed, signed off, or signed off + letter of completion.
DOB NOW: Build job numbers are not available at this time for email notifications.
As always, don't hesitate to contact my City Hall (212-788-6975) or District (212-873-0282) offices with any questions.
Warmly,
|
