We’ve sent a few fundraising emails today, so I thought it important to explain why these messages are so important to our campaign, especially today.
Believe it or not, these emails are how we raise most of the money it takes to run and win this campaign.
But on debate nights, we often get asked about how many people have donated, how many donations we’ve received, and how many people gave for the first time.
Because those numbers are often seen, rightfully so, as a measure of grassroots enthusiasm — which is what we need to beat Trump.
And at each debate, the response to Bernie has been extraordinary. And when I’m asked again tonight, it’s important we are able to say the same thing. So before Bernie takes the stage, I have to ask:
Tonight you’re going to hear Bernie Sanders talk about how he is the candidate on stage with the GUTS to stand up to the insurance companies, the drug companies, and the fossil fuel companies whose greed and recklessness is killing people and destroying our planet.
And when we are in the White House, that’s just what we’ll do. Help him get there.
