I guess it’s time for me to introduce myself, friend.
My name is Macklin and I’m the new Data Director for the Iowa Democratic Party. I grew up in Iowa but lived in Utah for a little while before I joined the team here.
I don’t think it fully sunk in how little Republicans in Iowa care about the people they represent until I saw the news that – unlike Kim Reynolds – Utah’s Republican governor vetoed a bill banning transgender girls from participating in sports. Even he could recognize that trans folks’ lives are more important than scoring political points.
Kim Reynolds has never and could never show that level of empathy or compassion for Iowans who don’t fit her narrow vision for our state. She and the rest of her party have attacked the rights of LGBTQ+ Iowans and continue to roll back hard-won victories for people of color and women across the state.
It’s time for us to put some compassion and empathy into our state government. We have a long road ahead of us and early donations help get the ball rolling. Can you rush a donation of $20.22 right now to help us elect Democrats who care deeply about the communities they represent and fight for our shared Iowa values?
CHIP IN $20.22
The past six years of total Republican control in the statehouse and the governor’s office have been hard on working Iowans and so many people have given up hope of a better future. But our state and our neighbors are worth fighting for.
We need Iowa Democrats in office who will put people first and build on our state’s legacy of civil rights and strong public education. Whatever you can afford to spare will send the message that Iowa values are still worth fighting for.
I’m proud to be in this fight with you, friend – let’s do this.
