As the former Tucson Mayor, it has been my pleasure to endorse former State Senator Kirsten Engel for Arizona’s 6th Congressional District.

I believe that Kirsten is exactly the type of person we need in public office, especially in times like these. She will work tirelessly toward expanding access to affordable healthcare, investing in economic – and environmentally sustainable – infrastructure, and protecting reproductive rights.

Her campaign's most important fundraising deadline is tonight at midnight, and it’s important they have a strong showing, especially since the campaign finance reports are a matter of public record. From potential opponents to journalists and pundits, all eyes are on this district – for better or worse.

This race could very well determine which party controls Congress. It is imperative we put our strongest candidate forward if we want to keep this seat (and Congress) blue.
