Happy Trans Day of Visibility!
Today, we celebrate the activism and determination that has fueled the fight for transgender equality. Visibility matters. Here in our state, transgender, non-binary and gender nonconforming Kansans are breaking glass ceilings like never before. The Kansas Democratic Party is proud to stand with the trans community today, and every day.
Despite the progress, transgender Kansans continue to face discrimination, harassment and barriers to opportunity. During this legislative session, Kansas Republicans targeted transgender kids with discriminatory, anti-transgender bills. The KDP strongly opposes these bills, and all other attempts to alienate, discriminate or target the transgender community. Additionally, the KDP condemns the anti-transgender events taking place today, like the alt-right-led event at Washburn University. These events are despicable, and Kansans know hate has no place in our state.
We encourage you to uplift and support the transgender community. The DNC is hosting a virtual Trans Day of Visibility Town Hall at 6 pm CDT. Please click this link [[link removed]] at the start time to join the event and support the transgender community across the country.
Onward,
