Unionization Perks up in Atlanta
|
Check out the new Red Clay Comrade article highlighting the piping hot support for workers organizing at a Starbucks location (amongst others!). We talk directly with the workers to better understand why they are organizing, the benefits of co-workers forming an organized voice to fight for their rights, and the state of unionization efforts across the country.

👨💻Weekly Labor Roundup👷♀️

Why are Unions are Important?
|
- Unions form when a group of coworkers organize to support not just themselves but each other and their dependents for fair, just, and equal treatment, compensation, and conditions.
- Organized workplaces provide safe places for coworkers to discuss their work experiences and support one another.
- A collective voice of workers helps ensure all stand to benefit and not just some.

🏥 Healthcare: Not for Some, but for All 🏥
|
Bernie Sanders, AOC and the Squad are launching a new effort to pass Medicare For All in Congress. This past Tuesday, the House of Representatives held its first hearing on the legislation since the start of the Covid-19 pandemic, where AOC testified that Medicare For All would guarantee universal healthcare to all while eliminating co-pays and lowering monthly bills for working families. Bernie also announced plans to soon reintroduce the bill in the Senate.
The United States spends more than twice as much per person on health care compared to other countries, and yet tens of millions of people still cannot get the care they need. At the same time, corporations in the hospital, pharmaceutical, and insurance industries continue to make billions of dollars in profits while costs increase unchecked. A single-payer, Medicare for All system is the solution that can meet the scale of the crisis we face and guarantee comprehensive, high-quality care for all at a lower cost than what we currently pay.
National Nurses United is working to gather support for Medicare For All in Georgia. Can you sign onto National Nurses United's petition to Ask Ossoff & Warnock to Cosponsor Medicare For All?
